My review of the Magne-Traction 164...
My first sessions on the Magne-Traction 164 were at Snow Summit (Big Bear), hardly a steep and deep freeriding resort, but the "blues and blacks" were enough to get some speed/hard turns going and the stick is the closest thing to riding a "Fishtail surfboard" on the snow that I've ever experienced...I agree with Chris Ankeny that the full rail turn stability is similar to what I imagine a hardboot rider would experience...The stability of the Magne-Traction, particularly with straight line speed is unreal, no chatter, no bounce, no vibration despite the board having so "much camber and life" built in...You can "feel the life of the board regarding the camber" as soon as you strap in and "it rewards you" by turning hard, going as fast as shit...The edges do not have that typical bouncing sensation when you have it up on rail at some "serious degrees", that feeling of cutting a steak knife through butter is no exaggeration...Taking the Quiksilver Boarding Team Captain Brian Craighill's advice, I ducked out the rear binding which further facilitated that "surfy feel" which reminds me so much of riding my fishtail big-guy tri's only on the snow...I also use Palmer Risers (due to my size 13 boots) and they further added to the boards "second to none" precise edge to edge turning ability...I can foresee my snowboarding ability and skills "going through the roof" with my Magne-Traction 164...Kudos to the "brains and vision" behind this new design that simply "blows doors" on any other stick on the planet...

The Holy Oly Revival
The Holy Oly Revival
February 25 - Summit East
A celebration of NW snowboard pride.
The time has come to look to the East, Summit East and behold the glory and splendor that is the Holy Oly Revival. The Summit at Snoqualmie and Liberace Technologies extend seasonal greetings to the bestest contest ever. Witness high-flying snowboard trickery on a big ol' pile of snow known to a select few as a quarterpipe, and to the rest as "that frozen thing they do jumps on."
The invites have been sent and only the radness awaits. But don't freak if you didn't make the invite list. 30 spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9AM at the Red Bull tent. This will set you back $30 to be a part of NW snowboarding history. If you are under 18, you need a parent's signature. And yes, helmets are required. Event runs 10AM-3PM with a big ol' after party in the lodge.

Besides the Lib Tech Rippers and other NW rippers showing up, we just found out that 2004 World Quarterpipe Champion, Kevin Cassillo will be there to show off his 1/4 pipe snowboard trickery.

Be there on March 4th at 1:00 pm for the grand opening party, the Mayor will be, along with the Fakies rocking out. Trick Stick Lipstick
On Friday, Febrewary 3, a treasury of snowboard art, like has never before been assembled for public viewing, manifested itself at the Nightlight...in thirsty downtown Bellingham, Washington.
What a mouthful THAT was! Exactly...and for the rest of the weekend, people drank in the pleasured views in paint...and $2.50 Redhook pours in pint.
What began as an idea for an art show to correlate with the Legendary Mt. Baker Banked Slalom snowboard race, soon chalked up it's first strained gasp. All at once breathing freely, the show dragged it's skyborne electric wires, shackles, and chains into the basement, for a weekend of sweating, euro-mulleted gypsies and angst-ridden, art-powered frivolity.
Photos by, Gunther Jose Frank

Trick Stick Lipstick
is a metaphor for snowboard graphics.
Wandering in and out of illusions on walls,
down and around through halls.
The tempo trebling my temples,
or is it my pulse?
Exclamation, exquisite.
The brush knocked
on the corner
of signature's visit.
Flashing lights respite
tonight delights in fright.
Thoroughly afraid of what just might,
be the most definitive beauty'd blight,
of which you paid to catch sight
of the artists' hand-sleight.
Living it up to your own discretion's interventions
giving it up to be defined as mind vengeance.
can you hear the wine inside the engines?
The power to paint yourself into a corner,
to draw a crowd, to create a nuisance...
...to the point of getting the stamp of removal.

Rock the flotsam, jettison the jetsam,
You've got to stop, look, and listen.
Art on the Lam...
...inate surfaces of sandwiches and caps...
..ized just sinking, into more thinking,
when blinking lapsed...
...and my eyes closed the gap.

One more for the road:
Gone is the day
Now is the night
Evening is breathing
A whisper of flight
So I flew to a new height
And the summit above it
Only to find my plight
To plummet from it

...if you didn't make it to this show,
I hope you'll make it to the next one.
Then you'll see why we photographed it after the fact.
It was RAW!

Tender loving thanks to:
Lib Technologies, Redhook, Volcom
& also RECO: "Whatchu got on my swa-vay?"

Take care,
pee shout,
and take a peek in the Volcom Artist Gallery sometime.
el Volcomics es bueno!

Markku wins Bronze on Good Wood award winning TRS series! Handcrafted near Canada!

Lib Tech's Silent Ripper, Markku Koski took the Bronze home to Finland, it was first Finnish Olympic medal in the Halfpipe event in the Olympics. Congratulations Markku!
Photos: Norm Nelson

Someone asked if the Americans were surprised that Markku was the bronze medallists instead of the favorite, Antti Autti? Kass answered, saying no, Markku was one of the first to ever throw a cab 1080 and “he slaughtered it today.” The reporter asked if he could repeat that, not quite understanding what Danny meant, and Kass replied again, much slower and more loudly “He slaughtered it today.”

Mission Ridge's New Hip
Yo Webmaster!
This is Jordan from Revolution Snow and Skate in Wenatchee. I'm attaching some photos of the new hip we completed today at Mission Ridge. Not sure of the exact specs, but the deck is approximately 80' long. We built it on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We're getting the park dialed in for WWSRA next Tuesday and Wednesday. There is also a similar hip (half as long, but just as tall) on the right side of the park. Thought you might want to see the pics to raise the stoke for the demo. Feel free to share them with whoever.
Thanks to the builders:

Magnatraction is legit
Yes Maam. Windblown & really choppy. MagneTraction is legit. Flood
was bitching all day. I had a grin that left my cheeks hurting. That
board is really good. It rules looking down and not seeing my size 11's
lurking too far over the edge. Plus it doesn't ride like a wide board.
With the blunt nose & tail, and sickest graphics I've seen in a long
time, this board is the total package I can't wait to get back up in
the next few days. Thanks again Grrrrl! I'll stay in touch.

Lib Tech Skateboards Letter
This is not a question as much as a statement. You're boards are Great!!! I've had a Lib Tech deck for 4 years! and only recently has it cracked. In that time I've skated decks like Darkstar, Element, and Girl but nothing even comes close to the long lasting durability, strength, and pop of you decks. The fact that it has lasted this long is no little feat, seeing that I am a 6' 2" 240 lbs. skater, and on top of that I love acid drops. This board is a wonder sent from god and I want to Thank you from that bottom of my heart for making such a quality product. Keep up the Great Work.

T Rice 157
Hey,
I just spent my first two days on my Travis Rice 157, and want to say thank you. I've been riding your boards for quite a while and gone from a Emma P. to last years Scotty Wittlake board. Each time I get a new Lib, it gets better. Magna-traction seems great so far, although to be honest I haven't tried it on ice yet, it does help cut through any crust lurking under the pow. The Travis Rice board is by far the best board I've ridden, period. Thanks, and thanks for running a company that people can feel genuinely good about buying a product from, it's rare these days.
