Skate Banana
I just returned from a trip to Mt Hood were I rode my 09 156 Skate Banana for the first time. I was a little unsure if the board could live up to the hype surrounding it....Well, it did and then some. The snow was rock hard up on the Palmer Snowfield in the morning and the magnatraction handled it like it was soft corduroy. I was able to go full speed without ever washing out. When the sun turn the snow to mush and it was time to get some laps in the park, I was suprised by how snappy the board was. By far the most fun and versatile board I have ever ridden.......

Going banana's!
I am writing to you all to let you know that you made my winter! I have been riding the same company for over 10 years, and this season it was time for a change. I was doing research when I came to your site and researched banana tech. When I finally rode my trs banana, I was hooked! Never have I ever ridden a board that has so much response, it is simply fluid! Thanks for going banana's!

Magne-testing...one, two..one, two...

My friend Andy Tullis was brave enough to get within a couple hundred yards of me to take this sequence of a high-speed backside slash over a perfectly groomed little roller at Bachelor. After further review of the final frame, I've come to the realization that I am actually a primal indigenous northwestern large-head skunk ape... that was previously misplaced. My facial posture implies that I am sub-consciously wanting to take a banana to the throat. I am thus planning to ride a skunk ape 162 BTX next year, on which I hear you can carve out an even more slippery backside fan.... Thanks Mervin.

I think that Skate Banana is the best board ever.
Message: Hi there!
Have a look at some pictures attached and a couple of really good collages. To be honest, I think that Skate Banana is the best board ever. Just a little bit of history, this is my second season on a board and you can see my first attempts. Please do not criticize strongly saying that I can't do tricks, but ..still - even a simple jump on this board looks amazing!
Trying to find out my own board last year I had a feeling that Lib Tech boards is what I really want. TRS 167 is my first board (for freeride). My second board – Banana.
Alexander,
Russia
Good Luck.
P.S. Your boards are the best. Keep it up!!!

Thinking of Riding in Japan?

SnowbedsTravel.com
Snowbeds Japan has been introducing the resort of Hakuba, home to the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, to globe trotting skiers and snowboarders since 1998.
One of the first foreign owned business’s in Hakuba, Snowbeds was started by Australian Mitch Large, who has lived and worked in Hakuba for the past 12 years. Having spent seasons in France, Austria, Canada and Australia, Mitch was seduced by Hakuba’s awesome terrain, prolific snowfalls and total absence of lift lines and crowds.
The Snowbeds company has grown over the years from running budget ski lodges and successful bars to booking memorable vacations for Hakuba holidaymakers. In fact, many of the foreigners now residing here got their first entry to Hakuba through Snowbeds.
In July 2007 they launched SnowbedsTravel.com an informative booking website for accommodation.
Choosing a place to stay in Hakuba can be a little daunting; there are literally hundreds of accommodation establishments, however, many saw their heyday back in the bubble years of pre 1990 and have become rundown in the interim years.
Snowbeds has 15 years working in the ski industry with unparalleled experience in Hakuba. They know the area better than most and also what makes for a great winter holiday. Having sourced the finest accommodation options from luxury hotels to budget lodges, SnowbedsTravel can also provide access to discount lift passes and the best quality rentals.
They can make your Hakuba snow vacation the stress free, memorable experience you expect it to be. With customer service second to none, let the SnowbedsTravel professionals take the hassle out of booking your next winter holiday. You can find them at www.snowbedstravel.com

Skate Banana props!
Message: Thank You Lib Tech! I've gone banana's over your "Skate Banana!" Incredible feel, easy to control, and most important, it's f**king fun to ride! Been snowboarding for about 8 years and have owned 5 boards throughout the years (Custom, Custom X, BMC, Timeless) and none of these boards compare to Lib Tech's Skate Banana! The Magne-Traction works awesome! Took this baby up to Stevens Pass where it dumped 20in of fresh pow everywhere. The Banana literally FLOATS in the powder and cuts through hard turns with ease. No more back leg burn while leaning back in the deep stuff, the banana rocker does the work for you. Finally we can start "SURFIN' ON THE SNOW!" "BECAUSE WE'RE NOT SKIING!" Thanks again Lib Tech. You guys f**king rock!

Lib-Tech Advertisement

A buddy and I went shredding behind our school campus and snapped a photo and it turned out to be a pretty cool lib picture. The picture was taken under the condition that if I hit my friends head and turned him paraplegic, I would in return have to read him stories every single night in his bed. Keep making bad ass boards!

Tosted Monte Carlo

I'm glad we're not staying at the Monte Carlo... it was on fire (slightly, check Google news) when we flew in today... no one hurt, they evacuated everyone, but I don't think they've let anyone back in the building... the upper floors on two wings look scorched. They moved 3,000 rooms of people to other hotels.

Hey dude, here are some banana pics from Canada!

Hey,
New years eve-eve, We drove from Big White to Red Mountain and the park director, Jordan had freshly painted the rails red. We helped put a few in and went out for some partying that night. Next day we go shredding and by lunch our boards are bleeding!!

Funny jokes were made and we went looking for powder. That one pic of the slash were there is some sun comin through Jack's armpit was about the only 5 minutes of sun we got that day, still epic pow.

We drove back to Biggie that night cause it was new years and went to a condo party. Don't remember the rest but shredding the next day was tough. So we went for some groomers and got an awesome method pic of myself and a few other weird shifty 180's. Fun, lazy first day of the year!!

Sincerely, Roman

BANNA WHAT?!? McKink it!
Since giving up on my search for a TRS 159 BANNA, I decided to give the new Magnetraction McKink a shot and I am stoked to say that it exceeded all of my expectations. With out a second thought I went out and hit the deepest POW shots I could find. The board’s wide nose and severe kink had the board jumping out of the deeps, all of the bumps and drops that I hit were met with a smooth take off and solid landing.
Who am I kidding I never hit anything with the confidence and style that I did with my new McKink.
Thank you for a great product this is my second Magnetraction board, I will never buy another board with out it.
Talk is cheap, go buy Magnetraction and see for your self.

travis rice 161.5
I just want to thank you for making the best board I have ever ridden. Although this is my 5th Lib, I was a little skeptical of the Magne-Traction. I am now a firm believer and tell everyone I know what a breakthrough in technology this is... It works exactly as you said it would. You guys are always looking to improve on the best boards in the business... and keep doing it year after year. Keep up the good work... I will never buy a board from any other manufacturer.

Subject: I love my Bananas!
Yo Mervin,
I was able to demo the Skate Banana at last years Baker LBS and totally loved it. I was so stoked in fact that I sold my last years TRS 159 (previous favorite board in the world) and Riders Choice 157.5, and picked up a new TRS Banana 159 and Skate Banana 156 from Sno Con this season. I got to tell you the Bananas are the greatest boards I have ever set foot on. I was down in Bachelor last week and just killed the pow on the TRS! And the Skate Banana is so sick for butters and boxes it ridiculous.
Here is my problem though- my wife is super bummed about me spackling the mountains with my Bananas while she is stuck on a regular board. Who do I have to bribe/beg/steal from to get her a Banana in the 146 to 148 size?
Thanks for making snowboarding funner than it already was!

Banana love
Hey from Jackson Wy! I've been riding for NeverSummer for roughly 14 years. We were just blessed with 4 feet of snow in a 10 day spread. I managed to escape the morning lift line and kidnap a skate banana snowboard and now I'm participating in the new era and revolution you boyz have created. I just ordred the banana-hammock and stoked always to see the progression you and Travis have established. Word!! Jason Elms

my TRS
well here's my story....
i spent my summer last year working to save up for a new TRS. sure enough by the end of august i had it, and i couldnt wait until the first snow came down and i could take it out for a spin. i had a full seasons worth of time out ripping on my board and all i can say is, WOW! i love you guys, your all geniuses for creating something like that. However with the start of this new season of snow, my beloved board was stolen from me. i was distraught and heart broken, i loved that board. it was like a brother to me. so again i would just like to say thank you for creating such a fine board. and that i am saving up again so that soon i may have another wonderful TRS to ride.
... you guys are genius....

Evil Camber is Dead, Sell your antiques while u can!
just when you thought "it can't get better than this"
everybody wants one (or ten). everyone that owns one is selling their old (& not so old) boards. trying to unload them before "everyone else" figures it out.
walking to the lift, on the lift, on the gondola, at the top binding in (you get the picture) ALWAYS someone asks me about my board. young & old. a single person or a group. ski instructors. skiers. EVERYONE.
but it's difficult to explain to someone...it actually can be better than that...really. it can.
thanks for making my world an even happier place.

Banana
Dear Lib,
My name is Dusty Smith and I am a manager at Christy Sports in Telluride Colorado and just got my Banana. I just want to say that the Banana is the sickest board I have ever rode. I have been riding for 15 years and grew up in Washington I have always rode libs with the exception of a Never Summer or a K2 in there somewhere. Everyone I know is selling all there boards and only riding banana's. I am even selling my Mullet there are no need for quivers anymore. I ride alot of backcountry and can't believe the versatility of the board. I have been riding libs forever and it only seems right that Lib has pushed the bar to a level so high. I wish next year that we might see a longer version of the Banana, the TRS Banana is impossible to get. I was on the chair lift today and all four of us were on Banana's its the only board that I am afraid that I might get jumped for. Its hard to get and everyone wants it. I am addicted to the board and to LIb. I guess I am writing because I just got off the Banana 20 minutes ago and it has changed my life forever. IT IS THE SICKEST THING EVER.
Cheers

I never thought that boarding could be as fun as it has become once again. I bought your dark series 164 2007 and it was a farkin' blast. I was so convinced of your companies perfection that I also bought the sick ass cygnus x-1. Now I am thinking about the phoenix series nude, just to have more options and to also broaden my own knowledge of board technology. I just wanted to personally say thanks a lot for the extreme care and passion that you put into your products, it means a great deal to someone like me who busts their ass all summer with decorative concrete designs and needs a playful, relaxing, yet hard rippin' break. Hit me back if there is time!

Banana MTX 159
Hey Matt,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I panicked and went and got Mountain Wave's last 59. Good shop by the way, don't normally buy stuff, since its mostly high retail, but the staff is very knowledgeable and enjoy geeking out on boards. Had my first day on it today at the basin. First thing I noticed was that it was super loose between edge to edge transition. I began to get a handle on this and really started liking it. I have a Salomon prospect 160 and 163, the 160 with a 24.8cm waist, and it up until the banana, has been the quickest edge to edge that I have ever ridden. So that part I really liked. I also noticed scarygood edgehold, especially at the apex of a turn when I had most of my weight loaded into the board. This combination of loose and crazyedge, I think will be nasty once I get dialed on the board. All that said, I bought this board for what I think it will do as a "freestyle pow board". Can't wait.
Well just babblin, had to geek out.
Thanks for your time,
Derek
P.S. A lot of curious people in the lift lines today, first truly different thing(well I guess except for MTX) that has happened in this industry.

Hip-Hop Star Redman says Washington is BANANAS!

Last week Wednesday, I checked out the Redman show at the Nightlight.
I brought my trusty Pentax mini-digi to snap a few moments from the show.
At one point about 2/3 through the show, Redman pauses, looks at the audience with a huge grin,
and says "y'all Washington people are BANANAS!"
Well, we are....more than he knows, whenever it snows.
Hey, did you know that winter's almost here?
It's Banana shopping season.

NW Snowboard Legend Bob Barci Passes

Apr 6, 2007
In the Northwest, Barci is well known for his many passions. Whether it was surfboards, photography, skateboarding, snowboarding, cars, or his work as bike shop owner or salesrep for Seattle Bike Supply, he took on his interests with unbelievable enthusiasm and always at full throttle.
Bob Barci got his start in the bike industry in the early 70's, helping out his good friend and highschool pal Wally Parcels at Sunshine Bicycles on Orcas Island, on the weekends. By 1974, together they opened the first BIKEFACTORY in Lynnwood, which soon introduced their own brand of folding bike; the PortaBike. For the next 20 years, Bob and Wally operated BikeFactory; and made it one of the Seattle area's premiere bike and skate shops during the thriving 80's-selling plastic banana skateboards, urethane wheels and some of the sports' first BMX bikes.
Also during this time, Barci was an instrumental figure in the earliest days of snowboarding in the Pacific Northwest. Back in 1985, the legendary Mt. Baker Banked Slalom race was Bob's brain child (along with Tom Sims). In the 2006 snowboard documentary, titled "Platinum," Barci is interviewed, and displays the swallow-tail and finned boards they duct-taped their feet to back in the day.
In 1995, Barci joined Seattle Bike Supply, where he assisted his customers in more ways than one throughout the next 12 years. In 2002, the "Year of the fold-up alloy Scooter", Bob was awarded the prestigious "Employee of the Year" and "Salesman of the Year" by SBS.
Between his love for work, Barci was actively and constantly involved with the Washington State Ski Patrol and his car club. His collection of Subaru's and a replica AC Cobra have been shown at many car shows around the Northwest.
Bob is survived by his wife Nancy. Friends of Bob have been showing their support and are sharing their best memories on the Bob Barci blog - http://bobbarci.blogspot.com/

My Magne-Traction Story
My name is Victor Behar, I am from Edgewater, NJ and my home mountain is Mountain Creek,Hunter,& Plattekill. This is a true story that happened in the beginning of the season. Enjoy.
First things first if your not riding magne traction, you have not snowboarded to your fullest potential!!! I have the T.Rice 153 and i WILL not ride anything else ever, if it doesn't have magne traction i am not riding it nor putting $550 towards it. I was up at Killington, VT in the beginning of January the conditions were all right but not there best, and in julio and anarchy (double black glades) it was extremely icy and the cover was thin. My friend had a Burton Custom X which is a respectable board, of course i had my T.Rice i was ripping that trail up like there was 3 feet of fresh powder on the trail, my friend on the other hand was having trouble getting 5 feet down the trail, i had to actually unstrap and hike back up the trail to get him because his custom x wasn't meeting the needs of his level of riding. Let this be a lesson to all that if you do not ride magne traction you haven't really been snowboarding. also its wonders in the pipe !!!
Sincerely,
Victor Behar

Escramble
Dear Mervin and Lib-Tech,
The new Volcom movie "Escramble" just premiered here in Boise,ID. I just wanted to tell Lib-Tech that to see Jamie and Bryan Iguchi in full length video segments was "SO AWESOME" and "SUPER RAD".
I grew up watching, reading, and memorizing photos and video clips of Jamie, I even still have "Road Kill" and "RPM" videos by my VCR.
Escramble showed that even though the years have passed since the beginning of snowboarding, a rider's talent doesn't die because he 30 or order. Any rider, no matter what age or skill level will learn something new from Jamie's and Bryan's video parts in Escramble.
Jamie rocks harder now than ever before.
Even though Jamie's cape wasn't showing in Escramble, "he is still SuperMan to all us riders."
Thanks again Jamie and Lib-Tech,
Steve Tanner

Poly knee deep in scandal!

I came across some great reading the other day in the pages of OK! Weekley …unbeknownst to all those chugging Rainier tallboys and watching the Mariner’s lose at the Nickerson St. Saloon, Ex-Billy Joel Uptown Girl Christie Brinkley is now healing after an affair and the scandal that followed sent her world into a tailspin…seems that Barely Legal fan and soon to be ex-hubby Peter got freak-nasty with a 19 year old named Diana…scandalous! Apparently the only calm in this crazy mixed up world is that the CoverGirl’s son Jack has impeccable taste in beanies…yet again another top-shelf promo job by the lovely Jeannine James over at Mervin…you go girl.

My review of the Magne-Traction 164...
My first sessions on the Magne-Traction 164 were at Snow Summit (Big Bear), hardly a steep and deep freeriding resort, but the "blues and blacks" were enough to get some speed/hard turns going and the stick is the closest thing to riding a "Fishtail surfboard" on the snow that I've ever experienced...I agree with Chris Ankeny that the full rail turn stability is similar to what I imagine a hardboot rider would experience...The stability of the Magne-Traction, particularly with straight line speed is unreal, no chatter, no bounce, no vibration despite the board having so "much camber and life" built in...You can "feel the life of the board regarding the camber" as soon as you strap in and "it rewards you" by turning hard, going as fast as shit...The edges do not have that typical bouncing sensation when you have it up on rail at some "serious degrees", that feeling of cutting a steak knife through butter is no exaggeration...Taking the Quiksilver Boarding Team Captain Brian Craighill's advice, I ducked out the rear binding which further facilitated that "surfy feel" which reminds me so much of riding my fishtail big-guy tri's only on the snow...I also use Palmer Risers (due to my size 13 boots) and they further added to the boards "second to none" precise edge to edge turning ability...I can foresee my snowboarding ability and skills "going through the roof" with my Magne-Traction 164...Kudos to the "brains and vision" behind this new design that simply "blows doors" on any other stick on the planet...

Magnatraction is legit
Yes Maam. Windblown & really choppy. MagneTraction is legit. Flood
was bitching all day. I had a grin that left my cheeks hurting. That
board is really good. It rules looking down and not seeing my size 11's
lurking too far over the edge. Plus it doesn't ride like a wide board.
With the blunt nose & tail, and sickest graphics I've seen in a long
time, this board is the total package I can't wait to get back up in
the next few days. Thanks again Grrrrl! I'll stay in touch.

Lib Tech Skateboards Letter
This is not a question as much as a statement. You're boards are Great!!! I've had a Lib Tech deck for 4 years! and only recently has it cracked. In that time I've skated decks like Darkstar, Element, and Girl but nothing even comes close to the long lasting durability, strength, and pop of you decks. The fact that it has lasted this long is no little feat, seeing that I am a 6' 2" 240 lbs. skater, and on top of that I love acid drops. This board is a wonder sent from god and I want to Thank you from that bottom of my heart for making such a quality product. Keep up the Great Work.

T Rice 157
Hey,
I just spent my first two days on my Travis Rice 157, and want to say thank you. I've been riding your boards for quite a while and gone from a Emma P. to last years Scotty Wittlake board. Each time I get a new Lib, it gets better. Magna-traction seems great so far, although to be honest I haven't tried it on ice yet, it does help cut through any crust lurking under the pow. The Travis Rice board is by far the best board I've ridden, period. Thanks, and thanks for running a company that people can feel genuinely good about buying a product from, it's rare these days.

Though we can't email you a cobra dog as of yet, we are in talks with Stephen Hawking to tackle this issue. Till then, the site will be updated all the time with new goodies to keep your mouth watering. It's a simple site but hell, we are a hot dog stand!

My Wittlake DIY 153....
So, I really wanted a blank white snowboard & figured I'd have to settle with some generic crap board, until BAM! Lib-tech Wittlake DIY! & 153; perfect size. & I like Lib-tech. So I get the board, & a ton of Sharpies & after some hours in a closed room stuffed with permanent marker fumes, I sign the board:
Thank you for the DIY!

Landvik fan mail
My name is Mats Willassen, I live in Bergen, Norway and I ride for Gnu
over here - thanks to you guys I constantly have fun on a snowboard
that doesn't reek. Big up! Hopefully I'm representing you right as
well.
However, I'm writing this email after watching Standard Films'
"Paradox"; in an extatic state of mind - mostly on account of Mark
Landviks part. So if there's any chance you could, you must let him
know that he's delivered the craziest, most sophisticated, inspiring
piece of visual stimuli I've encountered since.. I don't know. Way
back! I'm a real geek when it comes to snowboarding on video and have
been since the mid-90's - and I've never written anything like this
before. Holy smokes and man. It's like.. the mothership or something.
I sort of saw it coming, but dang! So: thanks for dropping that funky
old, new twisted thang and keep it coming. I salute yer with horns and
leaps into the air!
Peace
-Mats

LANDO STEW
Mark Landvic is the best thing to come out of Alaska since Jason Borgsted! We dated for a few weeks in Tahoe but then he stopped calling... But I learned one of his little secrets... every once in a while Lando recharges himself with some “Lando Stew”. It involved a mix of some sort of Euro cologne, micro brews, a couple of shots, myself, and some other ingredient he wouldn’t tell me... after a night on the Stew he sure stomped everything for at least a week.
