Skate Mars: Learn to Snowskate Urban Style

Press release 12-18-07
Skate Mars: Learn to Snowskate Urban Style
Start the New Year by learning a new trick
January 19th, February 19th & 26th the good people from Lib Tech, GNU, & Bent Metal Trucks will be on site at Ruby Hill providing FREE Snowskate demos, as well as FREE lessons. Jan 19th is opening day at Ruby Hill.
Denver's 1st and only urban rail park for skier's, snowboarders and now snowskaters; Ruby Hill is located at S. Platte River Dr. and W. Florida Ave. This Urban Terrain Park features six rails of all shapes and sizes. With features designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Denver Parks & Recreation work hard to blow up to 3 feet of snow to bring a truly unique experience to the Denver metro area.
http://www.denvergov.org/Recreation/Recreation/RubyHill_RailYard_2008/tabid/428661/Default.aspx
Ruby Hill collaborates with Snowboard Outreach Society (SOS). SOS was founded in 1993 as a non-profit organization. They aim to build character and self-esteem in youth through snow-sports and the SOS curriculum.
http://www.sosoutreach.org
Winter Park's legendary Terrain Park Crew sees to it that every rail and box is perfectly placed and maintained.
http://www.skiwinterpark.com
Lib Technologies is known as the innovator in snowskates. In 2006 they revolutionized the way people snowskate by adding the Magne-Traction side-cut giving the board extra contact points which provide a better edge hold. In 2007 they added new Banana Technology, which is a reverse camber design between the trucks. These combined technologies make the snowskate feel more like a skateboard on concrete.
http://www.Lib-Tech.com
GNU was the 1st company to produce bi-level snowskates which are Handcrafted in the USA near Seattle, WA.
http://www.GNU.com
To keep everything moving, the snowskates will be waxed with One Ball Jay wax, the largest wax factory in the USA.
http://www.OneBallJay.com
Triple 8 will demo helmets and pads for protection when learning to snowskate. They provide professional and amateur athletes with the best equipment to participate and push their limits safely.

Thanks to all the sponsors for making this possible.

Lib Tech Grip Job
Hey Lib Skates
I only skate Lib, and I always do something new with my grip tape since I'll be looking at the same board for a few months. This time, I simply put LIB TECH on there by cutting my black grip and filling it with neon yellow grip. The board has been getting a lot of attention at Ollie's in Florence and the extreme park in Louisville the past few weeks. The owner of Ollie's thought it was just a spray paint job, but when he saw it was two kinds of grip, he said I should send in a picture. Please pass this on to other Lib employees and let them know they've got another loyal skater that tells everybody about Lib in big neon letters :)
Keep making great decks!
-Rocky

Spring Broke
By Ryan Williams
Hey, So My pal Leon and I recently went to San Deeago, California to visit our friends, skate some dry concrete, and catch some Billy Bass. We started out with a round of spicy tomato drinks before we hopped on the plane.

Our first stop was Washington Street next to the freak’n airport to do some concrete hacking. Our good friend Brooks, was our O-Side Guide for a fun filled week of slappy curbs, hanging out under some bridges, fishing, catching up with friends, and pounding an unknown amount of breakfast burrito bombs the size of your head from Angelo’s.

6th Wheeler?

Double Trailer Park Hook Up

Remember that scene from Top Gun, Crotch rocket in the rain...

Boogie Boardin the deep end.

Ollie the navigator.

Leroy and Cobra at Angelo's and Tapatio.

While we were there our friends from Portland and Santa Barbara joined in the fun. Thanks Riley!

Cobra Kyle and his dad took us out on their sweet sailboat thing named Tess for some halibut fishing right off of Camp Pendleton ( One of the biggest Marine bases in the U.S.) where we saw a variety of sketchy military vehicles like hover crafts, fighter jets, attack helicopters and more.

Check out the photo of Tess with the airbrushed naked mermaid on the side they had painted in Mexico. Our only fish of the day were a palm size halibut and Leon’s hilarious croaker fish.

Squeeze its belly and you hear the sound of a frog getting squished by a car tire. Brooks tried to catch Nugget with the croaker severed head after a few soda’s.

Hanging out on the boat all day, drinking no water, plenty of soda’s, and you’ve got the poster boy for the next Weekend at Bernie’s Movie.

We took a hole host of night fishing photos at this rad spot in Carlsbad, California. First, suite up in full camouflage, dodge the “Bro-Dozers” on your way to the hole, pack your pole and some worms, maybe a few refreshments, jump over the fence into a gated community, and lastly hook a bunch of big fish all night until the sun comes up in a bunch of old rich sleepy peoples backyards. Watch out for security.

Dickville eviction notice.

We found some of John Ortgeasen"SkateParkArchitech" sweet concrete work.

Hey, where the heck is that indoor bowl? “Hey Luke, maybe you should pour some concrete in the carport of your rented house.” Anyway, thanks Brooks, Sara, and Ollie for the week of hospitality!
Thanks Lib,
R & L

Show your support for more Seattle skateparks next week and get a park in your neighborhood.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE ON TO EVERYBODY YOU KNOW.
Skatepark supporters:
The final round of meetings to decide where Seattle’s future skateparks will be built is taking place next week.
Come out to one of these meetings and support the creation of more skateparks in Seattle.

As it stands, there are 30 new skatepark sites proposed for Seattle. (A map of the new sites is attached to this e-mail).
But this cannot happen without you! We need as many skatepark supporters of all ages and backgrounds to show up and show that those who oppose skateparks are in the minority.
Speak out in favor of your neighborhood skatepark, and prevent the “skater haters” from putting a halt to needed skateable terrain.
Please bring your friends and family to one of these meetings!!!
Monday, October 2, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Garfield Community Center,
2323 E Cherry St.
Thursday, October 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Delridge Community Center,

Saturday, October 7, 1:00-3:00 p.m., Northgate Community Center,

5th Annual Scott Stamnes Summer Bowl Jam
"Super-hero abilities and endless stoke, made every session and everyday with Scott, amazing. His style and love will live on forever." -- Sean Donnell on friend Scott Stamnes, 2000.
That it has, and the proof was at the fifth annual Scott Stamnes Summer Jam in Port Angeles, Wa. Appearances from Scott's good friends kept things fun the whole day. Micah Shapiro, MarshalL Stack, Pete and Chris Saari, Mark Hubbard, Tom Pia, Tony Welch, Keri Clark and Rob "Spiderman" Scala, just to name a few. As usual, things started fashionably late with Marshal, Micah and Huntz rolling in around 11:00. Everyone who entered got to skate for a minute or so or until they fell. The groms are killing it these days. The knarly grom trifecta had some insane speed trains and were blasting huge out of the deeps. Mark Hubbard (founder of Grindline Skateparks) won his division and was claiming it was the first contest he had ever entered. Good on ya Mark! Scott's cousin Blair Habenicht had a big ol bag of tricks and kept it real with that classic Habenicht style. Good genes.
The Sponsored Rider’s event was switched up to a 20-minute jam format that was off the hook crazy. Tranny Danny's balls out, monster airs earned him the number one slot, with 18 year-old Jesse Nelson coming up as first loser. "The Jam was amazing and everyone was pushing each other." Pete Saari says "Tom and Rob were ripping and throwing down for Scott -- actually everyone was, and Scott would have been so stoked." Pete continues" Will (Powers) and Bryce we're tearing that place apart. Will had this drop off the tombstone into the deep end that lit the crowd on fire" All in all, the event was another memorable barn burner at the P.A. Skate Park. Special thanks to Keri Clark for making it all happen. R.I.P. Frank Russo and R.I.P. Scott Stamnes......Oh yeah.....WEAR YOUR HELMET!!!!!!!! -- Stan Tech

Question for Dirty Al

Lib Skate Krafstmen/Team Rider loves to skate, esp. on his breaks at work like these old pallets.
Hey Dirty why do you like Lib Tech Skateboards?
Back in like 98-99 I started seeing all these ads for bulletproof boards or metal boards or aluminum decks with wood tips, all of this crazy shit, unfortunately, they all sucked and didn't feel good and most were a complete waste of time. I knew about lib snowboards already and when I started seeing their adds for vertically laminated decks with fiber reinforcement materials, I took notice. These dudes already knew how to use these materials, so I gave one a try and was hooked. My first LIB skate lasted well over a month and I handed it down to a kid at the park. I'm sure that he rocked it for awhile after that. I was moving to Seattle at the time and went straight to work building these amazing skateboards. I've been doing exactly that for the last six years. I put a little magic in every board that I make.

Interview: Shag-Lib Skate Kraftsmen

Whats the most skateboards you made in a day?
Dirty Al is the one who makes them. I give them shapes, do the dirty work, and make them look pretty. I have, however, finished 90 one time when Jim didn't show up for work.
How many people work with you in your department? ONE.
How many cups of coffee do you drink a day?
78. That's pots, buddy.
How many times do you poop a day?
Why don't you ask Dirty Al? He's in the stall next to me.
Whats your favorite song to Karaoke?
The one that isn't in the book.
How many J-Pop songs do you know by heart?
It doesn't matter, because people here think J-pop is the latest skate construction, or the team manager.
Can you eat and finish skateboards at the same time?
I can do it better than Trevor can spell. I've corrected his grammar three times now.
Why do you like finishing skateboards so much?
Because it's better than finishing out snowboards...plus, I love skateboarding and will do it until I'm dead.
Why do you skate sea-skate so much?
Because it's on the way home, and the freaks come out at night.
What kind of car do you drive?
Thanks for reminding me. I drive your sister.
Who's your favorite comedian?
Everyone here is pretty funny...especially with all the things they want me to do for them. But I gotta go with Big Pimpin'...he can burn you like arson.
You're also part of the Lib Skate research and development team. Anything to say about that?
It is fun to come up with the names for the new tech, though. We put a lot of love in our new construction...
How much do you love working at Lib Tech?
I show up every day but Sunday...just cause I've got church.
Are you religious, then?
About not working on Sundays.
What do you think of the people you work with?
It's funny to listen to those softies whine about a little extra effort.
Who are your favorite skaters?
Aaron Deeter, Tom Peha, and I like to give Dirty Dan a hard time 24/7.
What's your favorite trick?
Larry's mom.
What's your favorite part of the workday?
Throwing tape balls at whoever is passing by...I'm very accurate, and may hurt somebody. What do you mean OSHA? Their music ROCKS!!
What does the future hold for you?
Maybe getting laid.
